Dave, The HMMWV (High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) was designed to perform a multitude of jobs, as the name suggests. Your claim about the HMMWV not being a ”front line” vehicle is unfounded. They were, from day 1 built with intentions to be used as patrol vehicles, armament carriers, ambulances etc. anywhere and everywhere especially on the ”front line”. Furthermore if cost was an issue and it IS, the Gurkha would be a wise choice because it costs LESS than a HMMWV of its caliber.

No doubt it better than a Hummer! But wait, the Hummer wasn’t intented to be a front line vehicle anyway. Its recently been adapted with armor. But, from what I’ve seen so far the Burkha was intended to be a lot closer to the front than the Hummer.
If money was not an issue, the Gurkha would be my choice.
